In the era of rapid technological advancement, our concept of legacy is also evolving. Digital legacies, including the digital footprints we leave behind, are redefining how memories are preserved and accessed. This evolution is not just about storing data; it's about the profound impact technology can have on our memories and celebration of our loved ones.

Technology has empowered us to capture ourselves and our friends and loved ones in new ways – through digital photos, video clips, and even our social media accounts. Through these tools, we have the potential to capture our daily lives, thoughts, and experiences with authenticity and in ways traditional mediums never could. With these tools, we can each create a rich digital legacy that can easily be shared with our loved ones. We’ve designed the eLegacy experience so that you have easy online access to your video interviews (and, of course, you can download them, too!).

Just as we plan for the distribution of physical assets, digital estate planning is becoming increasingly essential. This involves deciding who will have access to our digital assets and how they should be handled after we're gone. There’s no doubt that future generations will turn to the digital archives we create to learn about us after we are gone. Can you imagine being able to see and hear your grandparents (or great-grandparents, or great-great-grandparents) talking about what their life was like while they were in their heyday? We find it exhilarating that digital technology will allow future generations to see and hear bits of their rich family history. What would you want your grandchildren (or great-grandchildren or great-great-grandchildren) to know about your life?

Digital legacies are changing the way we remember and honor our loved ones. They offer an unprecedented opportunity to preserve the richness of our lives for future generations. As we navigate this new terrain, we must consider how best to manage and protect these digital echoes of our existence, ensuring they continue to tell our stories long after we're gone.
